Bringing Light to Lives- Diwali 2020 at Adivasi Pada

Bringing Light to Lives- Diwali 2020 at Adivasi Pada Diwali the festival of lights is a time of celebration, warmth, and joy for many. However, in 2020, the festivities did not shine equally for all. The devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted lives, especially in rural and tribal communities. Among the hardest hit were farmers and daily wage labourers, whose livelihoods were affected by the sharp rise in the cost of fertilizers coupled with a steep fall in market prices for their crops. This economic strain cast a shadow over their ability to celebrate the festival. In light of this, United We Stand Foundation took the initiative to make Diwali a little brighter for those in need. Our team reached Adivasi Pada near Vani, a tribal village in the Nashik district and distributed Diwali sweets, essentials, and basic supplies to the residents. The goal was not only to provide them with material support but also to remind them that they are seen, valued, and supported, even during the most difficult times. The smiles on their faces and the warmth of their hospitality were overwhelming. Children gleamed with joy as they tasted sweets they hadn’t expected, and elders offered their blessings with folded hands. The moment was truly heartwarming and reinforced our belief that even the smallest gesture can bring light into someone’s life. This initiative was a humble effort to bridge the gap between rural hardship and festive spirit, proving that compassion can light up even the darkest corners. At UWS, we believe that true celebration lies in sharing joy, and Diwali 2020 was a testament to that very spirit. Jai Hind!
